Is IBM Power 9 End of Life?

The practical answer to whether Power 9 is end of life, end of marketing, end of standard support, or still usable.

Power 9 is not one single lifecycle status. Original A-generation scale-out systems such as 9009-41A, 9009-22A, and 9009-42A have IBM lifecycle dates that include January 31, 2026 as the transition to end of support services. Later G-generation and enterprise systems need to be checked by exact machine type.

The useful owner question is not only whether the server can boot. It is whether IBM standard support, firmware updates, parts availability, IBM i release support, and security posture still match the workload risk.
